Which OBD adapter does Chase Baja work with?
Chase Baja is built and tested with the OBDLink MX+. It connects via Bluetooth LE and supports the full Ford PID set needed for live data and config changes.
Other ELM327-based adapters may work for basic data but are not officially supported. Cheap adapters from Amazon frequently have firmware issues that cause connection drops.
Get the OBDLink MX+ on Amazon — this is the adapter Chase Baja is validated against.
My adapter won't connect. What do I try first?
1. Make sure the adapter is plugged into your OBD-II port and the ignition is on (engine on or accessory mode).
2. Open iOS Settings > Bluetooth and forget the adapter if it appears there, then let Chase Baja handle the pairing.
3. Force-close Chase Baja, reopen it, and tap Connect from the Status tab.
4. If the adapter has a power LED, confirm it is solid (not blinking) before connecting.
Which vehicles are supported?
Full support (live data + mods): F-150 Raptor Gen 3 (2021+).
Live data only: F-150 Raptor Gen 1 (2010–2014) and Gen 2 (2017–2020). Mod writes for these generations are disabled pending real-vehicle validation.
What does the Truck Mode selector on the dashboard do?
It only changes which thresholds and alert ranges the dashboard gauges use — it does not command your truck's actual drive mode or send anything to the vehicle.
Picking a mode (e.g. Baja, Tow/Haul) tightens or relaxes the warning ranges so alerts make sense for how you're driving. Your truck's real drive mode is set from the steering-wheel control as always.
Can a mod permanently damage my truck?
Yes — module configuration changes carry real risk. Writing the wrong value to a module can corrupt its configuration and, in the worst case, permanently brick that module, which may require dealer reprogramming or replacement. Only apply changes you understand.
Chase Baja reduces that risk: every write is preceded by an automatic per-VIN backup, only validated changes are exposed, and you can restore factory values at any time from the Config tab. But you apply mods at your own risk — see the in-app disclaimer before your first write.
Will applying a mod void my warranty?
Chase Baja writes to the same module parameters that dealer scan tools access. Whether any particular change affects your warranty depends on your dealer and the specific mod. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act generally prevents dealers from voiding a warranty solely because you've made modifications; they must prove the modification caused the problem.
Every change creates a backup of your original settings first. You can restore factory values anytime from the Config tab.
How do I restore my original settings?
Open the Config tab, tap any applied mod, and choose Restore. Chase Baja stores a per-VIN backup before every write. You can also access all backups from Settings > Backup & Restore.
Why is my trip not recording in the background?
Background trip recording requires Always location permission. Go to iOS Settings > Chase Baja > Location and select Always.
Also check that Low Power Mode is off. It aggressively kills background processes.
Is there a paid version? How do tips work?
No. The whole app is free and every feature is unlocked — there's no subscription and nothing is gated behind a purchase.
If you want to support development, you can leave an optional tip from Settings > Support. Tips are voluntary and unlock no features — they earn you a Supporter badge on your exported build posters as a thank-you. You can tip as many times as you like.
Already tipped on another device? Open Settings > Support > Leave a tip and tap Restore a previous tip to bring your Supporter badge back. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used originally.
Prefer PayPal? You can tip directly at paypal.me/leonardopessoa. To get the Supporter badge after a PayPal tip, send me your Device ID (in the app: Settings > About, tap to copy) using the form above and I'll reply with a code you can redeem under Settings > Support > Leave a tip > Enter access code.
Is my vehicle data shared with anyone?
No. Trip data, OBD readings, VIN, and build log stay on your device. Chase Baja has no user accounts and no data is sold to third parties. The only things that leave your device are anonymous crash reports (Sentry) and anonymous usage counts (PostHog) — no VIN, no location, no OBD readings, nothing tied to you.
The only data that leaves your device: anonymous crash reports to Sentry when the app crashes (no personal data, no VIN, no location), anonymous usage counts through PostHog (which features work, never what's in them), purchase receipts verified through RevenueCat, and any feedback you explicitly choose to submit here. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
